Painting with Light: Expressive Watercolor & Collage

Location:

Sunstone Studio & Gallery (Open by appointment)

17A North Auburn St.

Kennewick, WA 99336

About the Workshop

This intimate two-day studio workshop (dates to be announced) invites artists into a slower, more intuitive way of working—one that emphasizes atmosphere, layering, and emotional presence rather than rigid technique or outcome-driven instruction.

Working with expressive watercolor and collage, participants will explore how images evolve through flow, pause, and response. The focus is on learning to listen to the work as it unfolds—allowing transparency, texture, and subtle mark-making to guide each piece forward.

Demonstrations center on building depth through layered watercolor washes, thoughtful composition, and the integration of collage elements. Rather than following formulas, students are encouraged to develop trust in their instincts and discover when to add, when to pause, and when to let a piece breathe.

With a maximum of six participants, the workshop offers generous individual guidance within a calm, supportive studio environment. This experience is designed to feel restorative as well as creatively expansive—ideal for artists seeking renewal, clarity, and a deeper relationship with their creative process.
